Our Story
Two minds, one obsession
Apoco is led by identical twin brothers, Matous and Ondrej Havlena. Opposite in style, identical in drive. People still mix us up on calls, in meetings, and sometimes even our clients and wives hesitate for a second. When you build a company with your identical twin, that simply comes with the territory. We've learned to laugh about it. And in many ways, it reflects something deeper about how Apoco operates. We share the same DNA. Curiosity. Precision. A strong belief in doing things properly, not halfway.
Ondrej naturally gravitates toward business and product – direction, customers, and turning ideas into tangible value. Matous operates at the core of technology, deep in the code, making sure every layer works exactly as it should. That balance between two complementary perspectives became the foundation of Apoco. One shared ambition, viewed through two distinct lenses. It's what allows us to stay equally grounded in business strategy and technological excellence.
History
From a small Prague office to a global engineering team
We started Apoco in 2020 in a small office in Prague with a simple ambition: to create a place where engineers could take on hard problems that truly matter.
No buzzwords, no corporate noise. Just quality, curiosity, and integrity.
From two founders, we've grown into a team of more than 30 engineers across Prague, San Francisco, and New York. Our work sits between research and production, where rigorous thinking meets real-world deployment.
We're still the same twins. Similar enough to share one vision, different enough to challenge each other every day. We believe in three simple principles:
